"if you assert and I assert, if you stick to your opinion, to your dogma, to your knowledge, and I stick to mine, then there can be no real discussion, because neither of us is free to inquire. To discuss is not to share our experiences with each other. There is no sharing at all: there is only the beauty of truth, which neither you nor I can possess. It is simply there."

Our Crisis of Identity: Is it 'out there' or 'in here'?

Friday, 7th August 2020 - Wednesday, 12th August 2020

The building of identity starts at a very early age, with our name, form, and that sense of personhood which comes with the growing body-mind.  Identity is constantly reinforced by our experience, so much so that we come to feel that this is who we are and all we are.  In our search for security we look to religion, nationality and relationship to support this fragile structure which positions itself at the centre of our existence.  In this retreat, participants may explore in- depth the nature of this apparent duality.
